A motorcycle accident on Interstate 80 slowed commuter traffic down to a crawl, but had a happy ending when the rider ejected from the bike, was not seriously injured.

California Highway Patrol reports, a motorcyclist was traveling along the carpool lane at 6:36 a.m. approaching University Avenue when a pickup truck switched lanes in front of the motorcycle, causing the rider to lose control and fall onto the highway.

The rider was transported to the hospital by ambulance with minor injuries.

The accident caused the closure of two lanes for approximately half an hour. Traffic continued to be slow an hour later as a tow truck was dispatched to remove the bike from the road.
